ANTIQUE GEOMETRIC QUILT DESIGNS BUTTERFLY IN THE GARDEN
< COMPLETE INDEX OF DESIGNS
Quilt Notes: BUTTERFLY IN THE GARDEN is one of a number of "drunkard's path" type quilt designs included in this archive (see list below). The design is illustrated in 5,500 QUILT BLOCK DESIGNS by Maggie Malone. A similar block called KATHY SUE'S PUZZLE, but with a different light-dark arrangement, is illustrated with paper templates, and cutting & piecing instructions, in 65 DRUNKARD'S PATH QUILT DESIGNS, by Pepper Cory, Dover, 1991. All Drunkard's Path designs utilize quarter-circles similar to the diagram left, which can be pieced in endless arrangements, and as here sometimes combined with squares. Notice the "hovering" of the butterflies in the overall tiling pattern.
